Real Estate Agent: Mango Blog

I am posting this, because I created a blog/website for a local real estate agent in Carson City, Nevada.  I am trying desperately to get Google to index the blog, but I have been unsuccessful in my efforts so far.  I thought maybe this would help.  If you have a chance, take a look at the modified template and let me know what you think.

Hi there,

Google can take a little while to index new sites, but there is a way to get it indexed much faster. You need to have a sitemap XML file that tells Google about the structure of your site. There is actually a Mango Blog plugin for creating a sitemap automatically.

Once that is done you can submit the site's using Google's webmaster tools.

I actually generated one of these last night, but I wasn't aware of the plugin. Thanks for the advice. :)

Not sure if Google is that saavy or not, but Realtor is a trademarked word and I don't believe even Realtor are allowed to use it in their domain name. Maybe Google has been put on notice by NAR not to index any domain names that include it. Just a thought...

I just came to the realization that I can't use the name Realtor within my domain name. Thanks for the heads up, I wish I would have know this before. I just wrote a post about using the word Realtor in a domain name so hopefully other CF developers can avoid this problem.

Hey Stephen,

The fastest way to get it indexed would be to social bookmark it and ping it 10 times. If you do that with any new website, it gets indexed in 24 hours or so.

I know it can be annoying trying to get google to come and index your sites. Social bookmarking works very well - give it a shot and tell me what you think!
